What is Pop On?
The idea of connecting language learners and tutors within seconds from around the world via the app popped into our heads in 2015. Since then we have been working on creating a global online community. It is currently available on Google Play Store iOS and Android Apple Store.
Pop On serves those who want to practice and learn languages from native speakers as well as those who are ready to share their own culture and teach their native language. It can be a casual conversation with a Chat Pal or class with a qualified tutor.
All you need to have is a smartphone and an access to the internet. After downloading the app and creating your own account, you just go „Pop On“ from the comfort of your home, coffee shop or school.
Who are we?
We are an international team of young, passionate, and curious individuals based in Shanghai, China. Shanghai is one of the most populous cities worldwide with a mixture of Eastern and Western culture. Living in such a diverse city, you hear new languages, learn about traditions, and get exposed to a variety of cultures every day.
The culture at Pop On is also very diverse and open, our team has roots in many countries. We are Chinese, American, Canadian, French, Caribbean, Slovakian, and Hungarian. And this list is just getting longer and more exciting. This is why we know how essential it is to speak many languages and understand each other.
Why Pop On?
You will not only get friends from different countries, improve your language and social skills but you will also get to know their culture and share yours. Many of us living abroad, know how it feels to be „lost in translation“, don’t get a joke while everybody around you burst out laughing. You accidentally insult others without even realizing it or just not being able to invite a girl or a guy you like out for a drink. Using Pop On will boost your confidence, and prepare you for the real-life situations. You’ll finally know how to express yourself in a correct way. You never know when an ability to say “This is delicious!“ in Chinese or apologize as a real English gentleman, will come handy.
